Common Side Effects
The common side effects of dosulepin may include blurred vision, increased heart rate, dizziness, dryness in the mouth, weight gain, and sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing; Additionally, dosulepin may also cause withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, irritability, headache, nausea, and restlessness.
Special Precautions
Patients with a history of bipolar disorder and psychosis should take special precautions while using dosulepin. The medication may potentiate the effects of anticholinergics, antihistamines, and sympathomimetics. It is important to note that there is an increased risk of postural hypotension when dosulepin is used with diuretics. Additionally, dosulepin may antagonize the effect of antiepileptics. It should be used cautiously in patients with conditions such as anaesthesia, electrolyte imbalances, epilepsy, hepatic impairment, mania, and cardiovascular disorders.
